Hi! My name's Natalia and I'm a Writer, Producer & Sound Designer based in Meanjin/Brisbane. I was born in Mexico and immigrated to Australia when I was seven years old – even back then, Nintendo DS in hand, I knew I loved games with every bit of my soul.
I'm currently studying Film & Television at Griffith Film School, and have subsequently worked as a producer for films, webseries, live television & radio in the years following.
I would consider myself as a Producer with a keen interest in producing story-forward, character-driven games with a strong focus on immersive sound design.
Having transitioned for just under two years, I've become incredibly passionate about telling authentic, underrepresented stories from queer & trans perspectives – and I believe the power of interactive narrative is such an incredible empathetic medium to share them.
Additional to game development, I'm also an announcer & event coordinator for Zed Games on 4ZZZ, Queensland's longest running Gaming radio show. I'm deeply passionate about highlighting and amplifying Australian voices in games, as I believe we have the potential to become a global leader in the games space.
I was the lead writer for a Trans Western Character Drama set in rural Queensland. Inspired by my own transition, the thing I'm proudest of with this project is that it's not just intrisicaly queer on a thematic level, but also how inextricable the Australian setting it is. Amplifying underrepresented voices is something I really value, and with this project I was able to achieve both.
I was responsible for the sound recording and design for Episode 2 – the most horror-forward episode of the series. It was my first time working in the genre, and working with my director to find the balance between the silence and the maximalist elements of horror was a highlight of the process.
As the creative producer, I fell in love with process of working in small teams at every level of production to ensure a consistent quality output:
It has been a privelage to cover. I have tried to Most recently, I was proud of our special episode dedicated to the launch of the Queensland-grown Isopod from Sbug Games, as well leading the coverage of our most recent Netherworld Indie Dev Night showcase this November. That involved me recording & editing 5 interviews with local developers to feature on our show.
